Savigny-Lès-Beaune Premier Cru "Les Verglesses"
Description
Famous wine-growing village north of Beaune, Savigny-Lès-Beaune covers around 500 hectares of vines. The vines thrive on soils of a gravelly or clay-limestone nature.
This wine shows a deep cherry colour, with garnet reflections. The bouquet reveals small black and red fruits (blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry), as well as flowers (violet). The body is discreetly tannic and rich. The Savigny-Lès-Beaune has roundness and volume, balance and power in the right proportions and often evokes sour cherries with beautiful elegance.
This wine accompanies tasty pieces of beef, pan-fried foie gras or crispy roast poultry. For cheeses, the Savigny-Lès-Beaune appellation prefers those with a mild flavor such as chaource, brie de Meaux, tomme, reblochon, cantal, mont d'or, époisses.
